Willies role in a stage production of the play Essay Example For Students
Willies role in a stage production of the play Essay Harold Brighouse wrote Hobsons Choice. Mr. Brighouse was born in Lancashire 1882.à Harold Brighouse wrote a lot of plays featuring Lancashire. Harold was a very clever in school but wasnt interested in going to University. Mr. Brighouse was brought up happily in middle-class family. Mr. Brighouses father was called by the name of John Brighouse.à Mr. Brighouse was a Theatergoer. He went to local theatres. When went on holiday to London he found a whole different world. Mr. Brighouse returned and quitted his job in the office to become a full time play writer. Mr. Brighouse and some local people formed a group called Manchester School of Dramatists. Manchester School of Dramatists wrote about ordinary people and their lives. The newly formed group changed the art of plays. During 1800-1900 plays were mainly about the rich and popular. Manchester School of Dramatists changed play writing and involved the poor and ordinary.à In 1914 the play industry halted because of the outbreak of World War One, which lasted for four years. At the start of World War One Mr. Brighouse was in France. He was forced to leave France and return home. At this point Mr. Brighouse really started to concentrate on writing his plays. We will write a custom essay on Willies role in a stage production of the play specifically for you for only $16.38 $13.9/page Order now When Mr. Brighouse started to write his plays with passion and pride he wrote the play Hobsons Choice. The genre of this play was comedy. Hobsons Choice was eventually shown at the end of World War One.à The play was written rapidly. Mr. Brighouse changed the course of the final act and set the play back in time to the 1800.à The phrase Hobsons Choice is well known. To have Hobsons Choice is to have no choice at all. Hobsons Choice comes from the 17th Century Cambridgeshire horse trader choice Hobson. Hobsons customers in theory had free choice but in practice they bought what Hobson wanted them to buy. As in the play Maggie leaves Hobson a choice but the threat of legal action made Hobson vulnerable and he didnt have a choice but to let Vickey and Alice of the shelf. William Mossop a lanky fellow. Aged about 30 years. Willie is not naturally stupid but is stunted mentally by a brutalized childhood. Willie clothes are mentioned as a poorer edition of Tabbys. When Willie comes up the trap door like a rabbit he is praised by Mrs. Hepworth, these are the best made pair of boots Ive ever had. In the film Willie looks up at Mrs. Hepworth and Mr. Hobson as a child looking up at adults.à The next scene Maggie calls Willie up from the cellar. Willie comes up then hesitates to come close to Maggie then demands Willie to show her his hands. Willie holds them out hesitatingly saying, there dirty (like child). Maggie values Willies skills, Youre a natural born genius at making boots. Maggie referred to the big shops of Manchester. Willie is scared of going to bigger shops. Willie in the play always spoke the truth. Maggie asks Willie to marry her. Willie is baffled and when Willie is amazed he says by gum. Willies attitude changes he doesnt want to marry Maggie and he tells her face-to-face.à When the word is broken out, Hobson gets angry. Willie stands up for himself when getting whipped. Willie kisses Maggie to get Hobson angry and then runs out of the door with Maggie. Maggie praises Willie by telling him, I knew you had it in you, lad.à A month later, Maggie and Willie go back to Hobsons shop. Maggie tells Vickey and Alice that Willie and her are getting married. Alice doesnt want Willie as her brother-in-law. Maggie back Willie up, hes as good as you are now, and better. .u6a3411126be63664a5c501cad7a2761a , .u6a3411126be63664a5c501cad7a2761a .postImageUrl , .u6a3411126be63664a5c501cad7a2761a .centered-text-area { min-height: 80px; position: relative; } .u6a3411126be63664a5c501cad7a2761a , .u6a3411126be63664a5c501cad7a2761a:hover , .u6a3411126be63664a5c501cad7a2761a:visited , .u6a3411126be63664a5c501cad7a2761a:active { border:0!important; } .u6a3411126be63664a5c501cad7a2761a .clearfix:after { content: ""; display: table; clear: both; } .u6a3411126be63664a5c501cad7a2761a { display: block; transition: background-color 250ms; webkit-transition: background-color 250ms; width: 100%; opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #95A5A6; } .u6a3411126be63664a5c501cad7a2761a:active , .u6a3411126be63664a5c501cad7a2761a:hover { opacity: 1; transition: opacity 250ms; webkit-transition: opacity 250ms; background-color: #2C3E50; } .u6a3411126be63664a5c501cad7a2761a .centered-text-area { width: 100%; position: relative ; } .u6a3411126be63664a5c501cad7a2761a .ctaText { border-bottom: 0 solid #fff; color: #2980B9; font-size: 16px; font-weight: bold; margin: 0; padding: 0; text-decoration: underline; } .u6a3411126be63664a5c501cad7a2761a .postTitle { color: #FFFFFF; font-size: 16px; font-weight: 600; margin: 0; padding: 0; width: 100%; } .u6a3411126be63664a5c501cad7a2761a .ctaButton { background-color: #7F8C8D!important; color: #2980B9; border: none; border-radius: 3px; box-shadow: none; font-size: 14px; font-weight: bold; line-height: 26px; moz-border-radius: 3px; text-align: center; text-decoration: none; text-shadow: none; width: 80px; min-height: 80px; background: url(https://artscolumbia.org/wp-content/plugins/intelly-related-posts/assets/images/simple-arrow.png)no-repeat; position: absolute; right: 0; top: 0; } .u6a3411126be63664a5c501cad7a2761a:hover .ctaButton { background-color: #34495E!important; } .u6a3411126be63664a5c501cad7a2761a .centered-text { display: table; height: 80px; padding-left : 18px; top: 0; } .u6a3411126be63664a5c501cad7a2761a .u6a3411126be63664a5c501cad7a2761a-content { display: table-cell; margin: 0; padding: 0; padding-right: 108px; position: relative; vertical-align: middle; width: 100%; } .u6a3411126be63664a5c501cad7a2761a:after { content: ""; display: block; clear: both; } READ: Play EssayWillie interrupts herà Way, come Maggie, this shows that Willie still respects Vickey and Alice. Effects Of Recycling Essays
Effects Of Recycling Essays Effects Of Recycling Essay Effects Of Recycling Essay Sing the consequence of scientific and technological innovations. the construct of waste to wealth is an environmental issue. 1. Climate Change When treating the original ( virgin ) stuff. the sum of energy expended in their extraction every bit good as transit normally involve firing fuels which beginnings of nursery gas emanations. Although production of goods through recycling requires usage of energy as good. the sum required is much less than what would be required for pull outing. fabrication and transporting the original stuffs. Besides. to a big extent. the procedure of waste to wealth reduces the production of big measures of nursery gases emitted from incinerators and landfills. Waste-to- wealth undertaking through recycling besides soaks up C dioxide from the air as it slows down the rate of deforestation which serves as C sink. 2. Water Pollution Recycling reduces H2O pollution in many ways. Many harmful waste and chemicals are dumped in organic structures of H2O because we produce a batch of rubbish. Recycling reduces this rubbish. Our dumping of this rubbish in the ocean affect many aquatic animate beings. About three hundred billion lbs of plastic is produced wholly in the universe. and merely a little part is recycled. while most of the staying are dumped in the ocean. Imagine that! Some of the harmful chemicals in our refuse from landfills could ooze into the land. and sooner or later acquire to the ocean and other H2O organic structures non burying our groundwater. This pollutes H2O. By recycling we produce less andreduce the sum of refuse green goods and chemicals dumped in our H2O organic structures. With recycling there isnââ¬â¢t the demand to do new merchandises. This means that the energy required to do these merchandises is conserved. This energy is generated from coal-burning powers Stationss and at that place . sulfur dioxide is emitted into the ambiance. Sulphur dioxide combines with H2O in the ambiance to bring forth sulfuric acid which condenses to the land in signifier of acerb rain and lowers the H2O pH. 3. Air Pollution With recycling. less sum of fossil fuel is required to bring forth and hence. less greenhouse gases are pumped into the ambiance. It besides reduces sum of emanations from incinerators every bit good as slows down the tree-felling procedure. With photosynthesis. the trees absorb the carbon-dioxide in the ambiance. The Downside In some instances nevertheless. recycling may be the beginning of air pollution as seen in Houston in 2013 where the metal recycling undertaking was seen to be let go ofing fume every bit good as cancer-causing chemicals into nearby vicinity. Besides the welding every bit good as cutting procedures of the metal was let go ofing metal compounds in the air which is non good for the people inhaling it as it is toxicant when combined in the blood. So. sometimes. recycling can do more air pollution. 4. Soil Pollution. Soil pollution is a signifier of land pollution. where the upper bed of the dirt is damaged. The inordinate usage of chemical fertilisers. dirt eroding caused by running H2O and other plague control measures leads to loss of fertile land for agribusiness. workss for forest screen and besides fresh fish spots for croping. With recycling. there is less waste put in landfills. Landfills are bad because there is normally a really high concentration of stuffs which are non biodegradable and these cause toxic chemicals to slowly leach into the dirt around. However. compositing of biodegradable stuff such as foliages and nutrient waste enrich the dirt as they introduce C. nitrogeb and other inorganic compounds that are good for some soil-resident beings and besides reduces the demand for unreal fertilisers. On the downside. paper recycling is really expensive and the procedure of bleaching is greatly practiced in this procedure in order to do the recycled paper every bit bright as original documents. The procedure of decoloring utilizations harmful chemicals which defeats the purpose of recycling Decision Recycling affects the environment in many ways. both positive and negative. Each one of us can hold an impact on bettering the environment and doing a witting attempt to cut down. reuse. and recycle in order to hold a positive consequence on the environment Mention hypertext transfer protocol: //www. conserve-energy-future. com/causes-effects-solutions-of-land-pollution. php Recycling and Climate Change hypertext transfer protocol: //www. plantops. umich. edu/grounds/recycle/climate_change. php ( Aug 22. 2014 ) Retrieved 2014. Example of Normal Approximation of a Binomial Distribution
Example of Normal Approximation of a Binomial Distribution The binomial distribution involves a discrete random variable. Probabilities in a binomial setting can be calculated in a straightforward way by using the formula for a binomial coefficient. While in theory, this is an easy calculation, in practice it can become quite tedious or even computationally impossible to calculate binomial probabilities. These issues can be sidestepped by instead using a normal distribution to approximate a binomial distribution.à We will see how to do this by going through the steps of a calculation. Steps to Using the Normal Approximation First, we must determine if it is appropriate to use the normal approximation. Not every binomial distribution is the same. Some exhibit enough skewness that we cannot use a normal approximation. To check to see if the normal approximation should be used, we need to look at the value of p, which is the probability of success, and n, which is the number of observations of our binomial variable. In order to use the normal approximation, we consider both np and n( 1 - p ). If both of these numbers are greater than or equal to 10, then we are justified in using the normal approximation. This is a general rule of thumb, and typically the larger the values of np and n( 1 - p ), the better is the approximation. Comparison Between Binomial and Normal We will compare an exact binomial probability with that obtained by a normal approximation. We consider the tossing of 20 coins and want to know the probability that five coins or less were heads. If X is the number of heads, then we want to find the value: P(X 0) P(X 1) P(X 2) P(X 3) P(X 4) P(X 5). The use of the binomial formula for each of these six probabilities shows us that the probability is 2.0695%. We will now see how close our normal approximation will be to this value. Checking the conditions, we see that both np and np(1 - p) are equal to 10. This shows that we can use the normal approximation in this case. We will utilize a normal distribution with mean of np 20(0.5) 10 and a standard deviation of (20(0.5)(0.5))0.5 2.236. To determine the probability that X is less than or equal to 5 we need to find the z-score for 5 in the normal distribution that we are using. Thus z (5 ââ¬â 10)/2.236 -2.236. By consulting a table of z-scores we see that the probability that z is less than or equal to -2.236 is 1.267%. This differs from the actual probability but is within 0.8%. Continuity Correction Factor To improve our estimate, it is appropriate to introduce a continuity correction factor. This is used because a normal distribution is continuous whereas the binomial distribution is discrete. For a binomial random variable, a probability histogram for X 5 will include a bar that goes from 4.5 to 5.5 and is centered at 5. This means that for the above example, the probability that X is less than or equal to 5 for a binomial variable should be estimated by the probability that X is less than or equal to 5.5 for a continuous normal variable. Thus z (5.5 ââ¬â 10)/2.236 -2.013. The probability that z

Success in Modern Labor Market Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 2500 words
Success in Modern Labor Market - Essay Example Under conditions of globalization it is possible to reflect oneââ¬â¢s abilities from different prospects. We live at interesting times and we are fascinated by the diversities of the modern globalized world. Thesis statement: labor market of the 21st century is a new way for employeesââ¬â¢ treatment, to their performance, which is based on their personal interests and concerns, which, if respected by the company, are perfectly integrated with the main goals and values of the company. The vision about the modern labor market changed and the vision about success has changed as well. With regards to the immense opportunities of self-development, it is possible to position oneself as he wants in a social sphere and play for example a role of a perfect wife, mother or housekeeper and at the same time remain a successful employee. Such options are provided by numerous companies, such as Google Plexes, for example. Different opportunities may lead to integration of culturally diverse employees and work in the name of a perfect conglomerate development. Modern developments in economics To begin with, it is necessary to outline current developments in the context of modern employment practices. Employers are no more interested in manufacturing employment or knowledge-based occupations. Nowadays each employer chooses the best individual, whose skills are endless and whose imaginative thinking may open a global horizon for future development. There is a need to invest in capable and talented workforce in order to succeed globally. For modern companies success means keeping catching up with the rest of companies internationally. Employees in the global market are characterized by flexibility and their ability to catch up with the changing norms and processes in the labor market. Such features as initiative, energy drive, mental sturdiness, and emotional stability, creative thinking, striving for perfection, inspiration and many other features are dominant. Therefore, it is relevant to focus on different tendencies in the labor market internationally in order to make some conclusions about the best ways to succeed. Performativity On the example of case study about Egyptian women, performativity option as the right way to success will be considered further on. Women in this country have witnessed that currently they have numerous opportunities for their self-development, realization of their career inspirations etc. Labor participation of Egyptian women is on halt, though in their academic performance they have higher rates in comparison with Egyptian men (Hassanien, 2010). Unfortunately, Egyptian women are often characterized as ââ¬Å"women at leisureâ⬠, because there is a too high barer for gender-work interplay in Egypt. In terms of gender performativity it should be noted that case with Egypt is interesting and resonance. They have creative thinking, imaginative potential, good credentials and degrees but they do not have their jobs or well-paid jobs. It means that Egyptian labor market requires restandartization in accordance with global labor market needs. Moreover, there is an option to show that it is possible to reach success in this country in the labor market. Such a successful entrepreneur is Azza Fahmy. She is one of the leading jewelry designers in the Middle East. She has combined her innovative and creative thinking and her craftsman skills. In the result she became the CEO of Azza Fahmy Jewellery. Earlier this

Enterprise Internet Solutions Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 3750 words
Enterprise Internet Solutions - Essay Example The new controls that ASP.Net provides can be used to develop graphically attractive and well structured applications. The object oriented controls like programmable list boxes and validation controls add to the functionality and control of the overall application. The applications developed using ASP.Net provides form based authentication including cookie management and automatic redirection of unauthorised login attempts. In addition, 'ASP.Net allows for user accounts and roles, to give each user with a given role access to different server code and executables' (W3 Schools.com, n.d.). Since the ASP.Net code is compiled at the server upon first request and is kept in the cache memory, the performance of the application is greatly enhanced and response time for users' requests gets lower. ASP.Net allows real time configuration and maintenance without the need to get the application down. Server is not required to be restarted to make the changes make effect. This provides easier configuration and deployment capabilities, while ensuring availability of the application at all times. The application requires authentication mechanism whereby the users are authorised to access various parts of the application. ASP.Net provides this feature through its powerful authentication controls as described above. With the advent of technology, the information needs of the people have increased with a simultaneous increase in the urgency index, to wait for the desired information. Nowadays, everyone prefers to receive information on his/her mobile phone instead to go to a personal computer or open a notebook. As a result of this change, many mobile applications have been developed to cater to the market needs. However, since there is limited space on a cell phone screen, the companies only provide information in a summarised form, having maximum benefit for the user. Business Requirements Analysis WFDF may provide following information on mobile phones: Contest rules and

My Educational Philosophy Essay -- Philosophy of Education Teachers Te
My Educational Philosophy Plato/Socrates and Rousseau have become major philosophical approaches. All these opinions are different compared to mine. Some are the same and some are different. I do agree with some of the philosophersââ¬â¢ points, but some I disagree with. My philosophical view relates to some of the philosophers views. First, Socrates (469-399 B.C.) view is on asking students repeatedly questions to make them rethink what they believe. He wanted to help others find the truths that lie within their minds. His questions dealt with the nature of love or the good. He wanted to help his students develop guides to a virtuous life. I agree with this to a certain degree. Helping students develop a guide to a virtuous life is good. Repeatedly asking students questions about "love" or the "good" is not a good approach. I think students have learned as they live. You have to learn through what you go through. Live and learn is a good philosophy. You have to think and learn before you react to something. Pushing a human to learn is not going to make them learn. Experience contributes to learning. It is a big part of learning. Thinking is also a big part. Plato is a philosopher whose view I partly agree with also. Plato believed that the human soul has three parts: intellect (reason), spirit (passion), and appetite (basic animal desires). This was his philosophy on life. He is right. We have reason to figure it out. There is a reason for everything. There is a reason why everything happens the way it does. If there was no reason, what is the purpose for anything? Spirit (passion) is also a true philosophy. Every human has the desire for passion. A hobby is a passion. A lover is a passion. Appetite (basic animal desires) ... ...em through it. The rules in the classroom are very important. There should be few and strict rules. If there were no rules, the teachers would get ran over by the students. The children need to know their limits in the classroom. They need to know who is in control. Although I have disagreed with some of Rousseau's views, I agree with most of them. Rousseau's philosophies are mainly what I agree with most. He was a great philosopher and he will follow me through my teaching career. I hope someday my ways of teaching, how I go about it, and what I teach, will reflect someone's life. I hope the student's look at me as a great teacher and someday they will look back on me and say "she taught me something I need to know for the rest of my life." I want to be one of the teacher's who are looked back on. I plan to peruse my teaching career. I am very excited about it.

Evaluate the Value of the Personal Development Plan
When creating my personal development plan I found many advantages and disadvantages that could occur. Even though I know the best ways that I learn and know what I need to do to improve my personal development plan to make it the most effective it could possibly be. There are many advantages of the personal development plan. Once creating the personal development plan you can always go back and change it, add improvements or completely change the aspects of the plan to apply to certain events or challenges throughout your life. This means that when you go through the life you are always able to have the same plan with you so you will be able to just keep adding to it and improving it. Having the personal development plan throughout your life will show any weakness that you may have or weaknesses that may occur often, meaning you can see the pattern and change what you do to effectively sort it. However keep seeing the same weakness may have a negative effect on you as you will start to believe that you cannot improve on it.This could get people down as they will feel that you canââ¬â¢t achieve personal goals you have started or created. Personal development plans are very beneficial to each person and have to be individual. Everyone could not have the same personal development plan as individuals are so different to one another. One personââ¬â¢s strengths may be anotherââ¬â¢s weakness and vice versa. Your own strengths and weaknesses make you who you are meaning that you have different goals and targets which you want to achieve.I donââ¬â¢t think that anyone else could ever write a personal development plan for someone else, for example a teacher writing one for a pupil. I think this as only you know your true strengths and weaknesses even though you may not always want to admit them. A teacher may make several weaknesses and smart targets for you to work on but may not give you a long enough time scale. Only you as the individual know how long you will take to complete the task or target and having these set by someone else may put unneeded pressure upon yourself.
